Built in the 1960s, the jetty at the Evans Landing Wharf is an integral asset to the Port of Weipa. Thanks to Wisely’s repairs, it will remain so for years to come.
Evans Landing Wharf is primarily used for the importation of fuel products, mooring of the Port Pilot Vessel and the bunkering of vessels. From 1992 to 1995, the wharf approach deck – the structure which connects the wharf head to the land – was replaced in several segments from the abutment out. The plywood within the wharf approach became unserviceable in the oldest areas.
Wisely’s repairs included the following services:
- Replacement of the plywood deck on the wharf approach with precast concrete panels
- Replacement of handrails
- New paint for the underlying deck structure
- Repair of corroded sections of the wharf structure.
Delivered with precision and minimal disruption to port activities, these works have strengthened the structural integrity of Evans Landing Wharf and ensured it remains a safe and reliable asset for years to come.
