North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) oversees two key regional ports — Mackay and Weipa — each supporting critical
trade, supply chain, and marine operations for their surrounding industries and communities.
Wisely was engaged by NQBP across both the Port of Mackay and Port of Weipa to deliver the design, fabrication, and installation of an aluminium marine sonar deployment system for specialised emergency response marine barges.
The system was engineered to enable accurate seabed and channel mapping, supporting NQBP’s ongoing navigation safety and port management activities. Delivered in‑house by Wisely’s workshop, the solution incorporated a lightweight yet robust aluminium structure, custom mounting arrangements, and corrosion‑resistant components suitable for harsh marine environments.
Installation was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to barge operations, resulting in a reliable, fit‑for‑purpose sonar deployment system that enhances NQBP’s capability to survey and monitor shipping channels across both regional ports.
