Meet Alex, our Project Manager at Collinsville Open Cut, who recently led the successful delivery of the $9.5 million CSK302 Clean Coal Stacker upgrade.
This critical brownfield upgrade involved a comprehensive scope of work designed to enhance asset performance and lifecycle reliability. Key elements included a full electrical rewire of the stacker, installation of a new trailer‑mounted switch room, and major mechanical upgrades incorporating long‑travel drives, slew drives, luffing winches, and ropes.
Alex managed the project end‑to‑end, overseeing engineering, procurement, execution, commissioning, and handover across multiple contractors and technical disciplines. Strong interface management and disciplined project controls enabled the works to be completed efficiently while maintaining operational and safety standards.
The project was delivered in approximately 6,000 man hours, achieved 10 percent under budget, and recorded zero safety incidents throughout execution.
The upgraded CSK302 has delivered measurable improvements in reliability, safety, and maintainability and is now being used as a technical benchmark for future stacker upgrade programs on site.
