In alignment with our long-term vision and succession plan, Chris Bugeja will be passing the CEO role to Danny Wisely after six transformative years, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the company.
In 1994, Wisely began as a small, family-operated business dedicated to delivering technical writing, maintenance strategy and planning optimisation along with program implementation to the mining and resources sector. Over the years, Wisely has evolved into one of the most trusted names in the industry, managing tier 1 client assets, infrastructure, operations and projects.
Through economic fluctuations and shifting industry demands, Wisely has remained resilient, adapting to new technologies and industry needs while staying true to its core values. Today, Wisely is one of the few remaining privately owned maintenance providers in the Bowen Basin, continuing to support major clients with unparalleled expertise and service.
Chairman Bob Wisely reflected on the leadership transition as a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution, highlighting it as a testament to Wisely’s strong foundation and commitment to sustainable growth. Bob acknowledged Chris’s instrumental role in shaping Wisely’s evolution, recognizing the lasting impact of Chris’s leadership over the past six years. “I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Chris for his dedication and support,” Bob said. Looking ahead, Bob expressed full confidence in Danny as the new CEO, trusting that Danny’s dedication, expertise, and passion for Wisely’s mission will drive the company forward. “Danny will carry forward our vision while steering Wisely into an exciting future, ensuring the company continues delivering exceptional value to our people, clients, and communities.”
Chris Bugeja’s journey with Wisely began alongside Chairman Bob Wisely in the company’s early days. After a period of external leadership growth, Chris returned in 2019 to assume the CEO position from Bob. Chris’s tenure has been defined by resilience and progress, leading Wisely through a global pandemic, national skills shortages, and a rapidly evolving industry landscape.
Under Chris’s leadership, Wisely has expanded its client base and strengthened its partnerships with key industry leaders, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted industry partner.
“Building relationships with Tier 1 Clients and watching our brand evolve has been rewarding,” Chris said. “I’m proud of what we have achieved together, and I’m confident Wisely will continue to thrive.”
Post June 2025, Chris will consult to Wisely focusing on leadership and coaching and will help support the team’s growth both professionally and personally. Alongside Dan and the senior leadership team, Chris will also play an active role in continuing to expand Wisely’s customer portfolio across the region, and other high level projects from time to time.
Danny Wisely, who has been with the company for over 15 years, serving as General Manager of Operations for the past four years, is looking forward to taking the reins. A leader with a deep understanding of Wisely’s culture and vision, Danny is well-prepared to guide the company forward.

His leadership has paved the way for our future, and I am honoured to step into this role,” Danny Wisely shared. “My vision for Wisely is to continue evolving as an industry leader, fostering deeper client relationships, and expanding our reach. Danny also expressed gratitude for Chris’s mentorship and leadership, acknowledging the foundation Chris has laid for Wisely’s continued success.

As CEO, Danny plans to strengthen Wisely’s presence in the Bowen Basin, pursue growth opportunities, and champion innovation while maintaining the supportive, high-performing culture that Chris cultivated.
